Amherstia

Project Overview

• The Amherstia field is one of the offshore gas fields located in Trinidad and Tobago, operated by BP Trinidad and Tobago (bpTT) until its recent divestment.

Commissioning and Production History

• The Amherstia field was commissioned in 2000, making it one of the more recent additions to bpTT's portfolio in the region.

Current Status

• As of 2024, bpTT has entered into an agreement to divest the Amherstia field, along with the Immortelle, Flamboyant, and Cashima fields, to Perenco T&T. This divestment is part of bp’s strategy to high-grade its portfolio and focus on growth opportunities in Trinidad and Tobago.

Production Details

• The Amherstia field is part of the broader offshore production network managed by bpTT. Although specific production figures for the Amherstia field alone are not provided, it is noted that the fields included in the divestment package collectively produce approximately 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Infrastructure and Operations

• The Amherstia field is connected to one of the offshore processing hubs, which are part of the larger network that includes platforms and pipelines. The hubs have a combined capacity to process 3.75 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day (bscfd) and associated liquids.

Future Development

• Under Perenco T&T, the field is expected to undergo further development to unlock additional gas reserves and increase production potential. Perenco plans to apply its expertise in managing mature fields to extend the producing life of these assets.

Transition and Ownership

• The ownership and operatorship of the Amherstia field will be transferred to Perenco T&T after a transition period, with the transaction expected to close by the end of 2024. During this transition, bpTT will continue to operate the assets.
