Ballindalloch
- Type: Rig
- field
- Latitude: 59.3387343
- Longitude: 1.5972614
Location
The Ballindalloch oil field is located offshore in the United Kingdom, specifically in the Northern North Sea. It is situated in blocks 9/18b, 9/19a, 9/23d, and 9/24e of the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).
Water Depth
The field is in shallow water, with a water depth of approximately 379 feet (115 meters) or, as specified in another source, around 112 meters below the Lowest Astronomical Tide (LAT).
Operator and Ownership
The Ballindalloch oil field is operated by TotalEnergies E&P North Sea UK Limited, a subsidiary of TotalEnergies SE. The field is owned by Nobel Oil and TotalEnergies.
Discovery and Production
The field was discovered in 2016. While the exact year of the Final Investment Decision (FID) is not specified, production from the field has been ongoing. The field is serviced by the Gryphon Alpha Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) facility, which also handles production from the Tullich, Maclure, and Gryphon fields.
Production Details
- Oil Production: As of 2019, the field produced approximately 0.57 million barrels per year, which increased to about 0.7 million barrels per year by 2022.
- Gas Production: Gas production from the field was around 7.7 million cubic meters per year in 2019 and increased to about 15.01 million cubic meters per year by 2022.
- Peak Production: Peak production from the Ballindalloch field is expected in 2025.
Reserves and Production Life
The field has recovered about 15.49% of its total recoverable reserves as of the latest data. Based on economic assumptions, production is expected to continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2077.
Infrastructure
The Ballindalloch field is connected to the Gryphon Alpha FPSO, which processes hydrocarbons from this and other nearby fields. The FPSO is equipped with facilities for oil storage, gas export via the Leadon pipeline to the Beryl Alpha platform, and other necessary infrastructure for production and export.
Future Operations
The FPSO and associated infrastructure are planned to be decommissioned in the future, with preparations starting as early as 2026. This includes making the wells and subsea infrastructure safe, flushing hydrocarbons from the subsea pipework, and eventually disconnecting and removing the FPSO.
