Belayim Marine

Location

The Belayim Marine Oil Field is situated offshore in the Gulf of Suez, approximately 165 km southeast of Suez city. It is located in the eastern part of the Gulf of Suez, with coordinates of about 28.616, 33.202 (WGS 84).

Discovery and Production

The Belayim Marine Oil Field was discovered in 1961, and production began in 1962.

Production and Reserves

• The field has significant hydrocarbon reserves. As of 2010, the oil reserves were estimated at 242 million barrels, and the original recoverable oil reserves were 226.44 million barrels as of 1979.
• The field also has substantial gas reserves, with estimated ultimate recoverable (EUR) gas reserves of 12,544.24 million cubic meters as of 2010.
• The annual production from the Belayim Marine Oil and Gas Field was approximately 8.69 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per year as of 2017.

Cumulative Production

The cumulative oil production from the entire Belayim Marine & Belayim Land Oil Project was 252.63 million barrels as of 1979.

Geology

The Belayim Marine Oil Field is part of the Belayim Formation, which dates back to the Middle Miocene. This formation consists of four members: Hammam Faraun, Feiran, Sidri, and Baba. These members include sandstones, shales, siltstones, and evaporite deposits, which provide good reservoir quality for petroleum accumulation.

Field Characteristics

• The field is located in a marine environment with a water depth of 30-40 meters and covers an area of approximately 4.5 square kilometers.
• The reservoirs are part of a rift-related sequence, with half-grabens structures formed during the rift-climax phase, allowing the deposition of various clastic and evaporitic sequences.

Concessions and Blocks

The Belayim Marine Oil Field is part of several concessions, including Belayim 10 Lease 15, Belayim 9 Lease 14, and Belayim 5 Lease 9.
