Clochas
- Type: Rig
- field
- Latitude: -6.3709000
- Longitude: 10.9889000
Location
The Clochas field is located in Block 15, approximately 95 miles offshore Angola, at a water depth of about 4,500 feet.
Development Phase
The Clochas field is part of the Kizomba Satellites project, specifically Phase 1 of this development. This phase includes the development of two satellite discoveries, Clochas and Mavacola.
Production
The Clochas and Mavacola fields were developed with 18 wells tied back to the existing Kizomba A and B production facilities. The combined production from these fields is estimated to be around 100,000 barrels per day (bpd) at peak rates, which began in July 2012.
Reserves
The Clochas and Mavacola fields are estimated to contain a combined 250 million barrels of oil.
Infrastructure
The production from the Clochas field is tied back to the Kizomba A and B production facilities, which include FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading) vessels and surface wellhead platforms. This infrastructure allows for efficient production and processing of the oil from the deepwater fields.
Partners
The Block 15, where the Clochas field is located, is operated by ExxonMobil with a 40% interest. Other partners include Sonangol, Equinor, and Azule Energy (a joint venture between BP and Eni).
Significance
The development of the Clochas field, along with other satellite discoveries, is part of an effort to maintain and increase oil production from Block 15, which is one of Angola's largest oil-producing blocks. This project helps in addressing the decline in oil production from mature fields in the region.
Economic Impact
The project contributes to the overall oil production in Angola, which is crucial for the country's economy. Oil revenues are a vital source of funding for the Angolan government, and projects like the Clochas field help in sustaining these revenues.
In summary, the Clochas oil project is a significant component of ExxonMobil's Kizomba Satellites development, contributing to the sustained oil production in Block 15 and supporting Angola's oil industry.
