Dongfang 1-1
- Type: Rig
- field
- Latitude: 17.7575232
- Longitude: 110.0562902
Location
The Dongfang 1-1 Gas Field is located in the Yinggehai Basin of the Western South China Sea, approximately 100-110 kilometers west of Dongfang City, Hainan Province, China.
Discovery and Development
The field was discovered in 1992. The development of the Dongfang 1-1 gas field has been carried out in multiple phases:
- Phase 1: Production commenced in September 2003.
- Phase 2: The first gas from the second phase was achieved in May 2006.
- Phase 1 Adjustment Project: Completed in 2015, this project involved the addition of a new wellhead platform and new production wells, which started production ahead of schedule.
Recent Developments
In addition to the existing phases, CNOOC Limited announced the commencement of production from the Dongfang 1-1 Gas Field Southeast Zone and Ledong 22-1 Gas Field South Block Development Project in September 2022. This project utilizes the existing processing facilities of the Dongfang 1-1 platform and Ledong 22-1 platform, and includes the commissioning of 4 development wells, 2 subsea production systems, 2 mixed transportation pipelines for oil and gas, and 2 umbilicals. The project is expected to reach a peak production of approximately 44 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure for the Dongfang 1-1 gas field includes:
- Platforms: The field has multiple platforms, including a main production platform and additional wellhead platforms added during the phase 1 adjustment project.
- Subsea Infrastructure: The recent development project involves 2 subsea production systems and associated pipelines.
- Transportation: Gas produced from the field is transported through submarine pipelines. For the recent Southeast Zone and Ledong 22-1 South Block project, gas is transported via mixed transportation pipelines.
Production
- The initial phases of the Dongfang 1-1 gas field have been producing gas since 2003 and 2006, respectively.
- The recent development project is expected to add significant production capacity, with a peak production of approximately 44 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.
Geology
The Dongfang 1-1 gas field is located in the mud diapir belt of the Yinggehai Basin. The field was discovered in 1992, and the geological setting involves high-pressure and high-temperature gas pay zones.
Water Depth
The field is situated in waters with an average depth of about 90 meters.
