Guillemot A Oil and Gas Field Profile

Location and Geology

The Guillemot A oil and gas field is located in the Central North Sea, UK, specifically in blocks 21/35 and 21/30. The field is situated in an area with a water depth of approximately 94 meters (or 381 feet).

The main reservoirs within the Guillemot A field are part of the Upper Jurassic Fulmar Formation, along with other formations such as the Triassic Skagerrak Formation, the Palaeocene Forties Formation, and the Upper Jurassic Heather Formation sandstones.

Discovery and Production

The Guillemot A field was discovered in 1979. Production commenced in 1996 following the installation of the Anasuria floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) host platform.

Ownership and Operation

The Guillemot A field is owned and operated by Anasuria Operating Company (AOC), a 50:50 joint venture between Hibiscus Petroleum and Ping Petroleum. These companies acquired the project from Shell UK, Shell EP Offshore Ventures, and Esso Exploration and Production UK (ESSO) in March 2016.

Field Details

  • Production: The field has recovered 91.96% of its total recoverable reserves as of the latest reports. Peak production was achieved in 1997. Based on economic assumptions, production is expected to continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2028.
  • Wells: The Guillemot A field integrates five producer wells and a water injection well. Recent activities include the drilling of the GUA-P2 sidetrack well in 2018 and the GUA-P1 sidetrack well in 2019, which unlocked an additional 1.7 million barrels of oil. These works were completed by the Stena Spey rig in August 2019, with the well flowing at a rate of 1,800 barrels per day (bpd).

Development and Expansion

  • Enhancement Project: There is an ongoing Guillemot A Enhancement Project, currently in the feasibility stage, aimed at extending the production life of the field.
  • Infrastructure: The field is part of the Anasuria Cluster, which shares the Anasuria FPSO. Contractors involved in the development and operations include Petrofac for operations services, SBM Offshore as the main contractor for the FPSO, and other companies such as Stork Protech, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Amec, Babcock International, Aker/Heerema, McDermott, and Cooper Oil Tools for various aspects of the project.

Reserves

As of July 2018, the Anasuria Cluster, which includes the Guillemot A field, was estimated to hold combined proved and probable (2P) reserves of 24.2 million barrels (MMbbl) of oil and 17.5 billion standard cubic feet (Bscf) of gas. The 2C oil resources were estimated to be 7.8 MMbbl of oil and 6.7 Bscf of gas.

Future Plans

AOC plans to extend the production life of the area by an additional 20 years through various activities such as workovers, infill drilling, upgrades and installations of water injection facilities, and tie-ins with neighboring facilities, including the Kite field.
