Location and Geology

• The Halfdan Oil and Gas Field is located in the Danish sector of the North Sea, approximately 210 km west of Esbjerg, Denmark.
• It is situated in shallow water with a depth of about 43 meters (158 feet).

  • Halfdan B comprises a processing platform (HBD), a wellhead platform (HBA), a combined riser and wellhead platform (HBB), and an accommodation platform (HBC).
  • Halfdan C is an unmanned wellhead platform (HCA) controlled remotely from Halfdan B.

Production History and Reserves

• The Halfdan field was discovered in 1998 and production began in 1999.
• The field has recovered 94.56% of its total recoverable reserves as of recent data. Peak production occurred in 2006, and production is expected to continue until the field reaches its economic limit in 2031.
• The field currently accounts for approximately 43% of Denmark’s daily oil output.
• As of 2022, the reserves include:
  • Oil: 125.8 million barrels.
  • Liquids: 76.5 million barrels (2P reserves).
  • Gas: 4028.56 million cubic meters (2P reserves).

Current and Future Projects

• Several expansion projects are ongoing or planned:
  • Halfdan Ekofisk Infills, Halfdan Tor NE infills, Halfdan Northeast Project, and Halfdan Project D are in various stages of approval, construction, commissioning, and feasibility studies.
  • The HCA Gas Lift Project aims to support and increase production potential by modifying the Halfdan B topsides and installing a gas-lift manifold at Halfdan C.
  • The Halfdan North project involves drilling seven infill wells between 2023 and 2025, targeting a reservoir between the producing Halfdan and Tyra SE fields.
  • Development plans for the Halfdan North Upper Cretaceous discovery include a nine-well tieback to the Halfdan HBD processing platform.

Environmental and Social Impact

• The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA-16) covers the remaining lifetime of ongoing projects and the whole lifecycle of planned projects, including exploration, production, and decommissioning. This assessment includes details on seismic activities, pipelines, structures, production, drilling, well stimulation, transport, and decommissioning.
