Iguana
- Type: Rig
- field
- Latitude: 10.3160000
- Longitude: -61.8510000
Location
The Iguana field is located in Block A of the Natuna Sea, off the shore of Indonesia.
Discovery and Appraisal
The Iguana field was discovered by the Iguana-1 well, drilled by the Trident 17 jack-up rig in April 2000. The well used slim hole technology, which reduced drilling time and costs. The Iguana-1 well struck gas in four separate reservoirs of the Arang formation, flowing at a rate of 25 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) during testing.
Reserves
The Iguana field is estimated to hold approximately 29 billion cubic feet (bcf) of gas, as reported in the 2009 Certified Gas Reserves by Premier Oil.
Development Plan
The BIGP project, which includes the Iguana field, was sanctioned in 2017. The development plan involves a three-well subsea control system. The Iguana field, along with the Bison field, will be tied back to the existing Pelikan wellhead platform in water depths of about 90 meters. The subsea system will feature a wet gas meter for each well and will have the potential to accommodate infill drilling for future expansion.
Infrastructure and Export
The produced gas from the Iguana field will be exported through the West Natuna Transport System to the Jurong petrochemical complex in Singapore. This will support Premier Oil's gas contracts in both Singapore and Indonesia, increasing the gross deliverable gas reserves to approximately 100 billion cubic feet (bcf).
Operators and Partners
Premier Oil is the operator of the BIGP project and holds a 28.67% interest in Block A. Other partners in the block include Petronas, PTT Exploration and Production, Pertamina, and Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (Kufpec).
Contractors
Proserv was contracted to deliver the subsea control system and related equipment for the BIGP project, including the Artemis 2G subsea electronics module and wet gas meters. S2V Consulting carried out the front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the subsea controls and umbilicals required for the development.
