Objective

Career Development Plan
- The candidate and their mentor are jointly responsible for preparing a career development plan.
- The plan should outline a systematic progression from prior experience to the training and research experiences that will occur during the project period.
- It should justify the need for further career development to become an independent expert in the oil industry.
Research and Training Activities
- The project should focus on advanced research in areas such as:
- Innovative drilling and extraction technologies.
- Sustainable oil production practices.
- Environmental impact mitigation.
- Advanced geophysical and geochemical analysis.
- The candidate should have access to appropriate resources, including laboratory space, equipment, and field sites.
Institutional Commitment
- The institution must provide assurances that the candidate will be able to devote the required time and effort to the project.
- The institution should commit to providing office and laboratory space, equipment, and other necessary resources.
- Support for mentors and other staff consistent with the career development plan is also required.
Funding and Duration
- The project period can be up to 5 years, with justification for the requested duration based on the career development goals.
- Funding could include salary support and research expenses, similar to the NIH K01 awards which provide up to $100,000 for salary and up to $50,000 for research support per year.
