MDA-MBH-MDK
- Type: Rig
- project
- Latitude: -7.5364316
- Longitude: 114.3272623
Location
The project is situated offshore in the Madura Strait, approximately 40 kilometers north of East Java, Indonesia. The exact coordinates are approximately -7.5364, 114.3273.
Project Components
The MDA-MBH-MDK Gas Project consists of three main units:
- Madura MDA Oil and Gas Field
- Madura MBH Oil and Gas Field
- Madura MDK Oil and Gas Field.
Operators and Owners
The project is operated by Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited, a joint venture between:
- Husky Oil (now part of Cenovus Energy) with a 40% interest
- CNOOC Limited with a 40% interest
- Samudra Energy with a 20% interest.
Production Details
- Production Start: The project began production in October 2022.
- Current Production: The gas production capacity from the MDA and MBH fields currently reaches 120 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), with the potential to process up to 175 MMSCFD through the 'Trunojoyo 01' Floating Production Unit (FPU) Facility.
- Peak Production: Peak production was achieved in 2023, with the field recovering 26.91% of its total recoverable reserves as of that year.
- Production Design Capacity: The project has a production design capacity of approximately 1550.33 million cubic meters of gas per year.
Reserves
- Remaining Reserves: As of 2023, the project has remaining gas reserves of approximately 6440.61 million cubic meters.
Infrastructure
- Platforms: The project includes the completion of the MDA and MBH platforms, along with subsea pipelines and Hot-Tap connections to the existing East Java Gas Pipeline. The MDA Platform is noted for being one of the deepest offshore structures installed in Indonesia.
- FPU Facility: Gas from the fields flows into the 'Trunojoyo 01' FPU Facility, which processes the gas before it is delivered to the East Java Gas Pipeline.
Future Developments
- Expansion Project: An expansion project associated with the MDA-MBH-MDK, known as the MDA-MBH-MDK Development, is currently in the feasibility stage and is expected to start in 2026.
Economic Impact
- The field currently accounts for approximately 1% of Indonesia's daily gas output and has increased gas supply to the entire East Java region and beyond.
Safety and Construction
- The construction of the MDA and MBH platforms was achieved with two million man-hours of zero incidents, a significant safety achievement for Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited and its national EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation) contractor.
Water Depth
The field is located in shallow water with a depth of approximately 321 feet (about 98 meters) in the Madura Strait.
