Ochigufu

  • Type: Rig
  • field
  • Latitude: -6.2719800
  • Longitude: 11.2208000

Location

The Ochigufu field is situated approximately 150 km west of Soyo and 380 km northwest of Luanda, the capital city of Angola, in the deep offshore waters of Block 15/06.

Water Depth

The field is located at a water depth of 1300 meters, which is characteristic of the deep offshore environment of this block.

Operator and Partners

The project is operated by Eni, with the following partnership structure:

  • Eni: 36.84%
  • Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção: 36.84%
  • SSI Fifteen Limited: 26.32%.

Production System

The wells in the Ochigufu field are connected subsea to the Sangos production system and then tied into the N’Goma Floating, Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessel. This FPSO is central to the West Hub development, facilitating the production from multiple fields within the block.

Production Start-Up and Ramp-Up

Oil production from the Ochigufu field began in March 2018, marking the first start-up for Eni in 2018 and the first start-up of the year in Angola. The ramp-up of the field was completed in less than two months, reaching a production plateau of 24,000 barrels per day (b/d).

Reserves and Production

The Block 15/06, where the Ochigufu field is located, has significant oil reserves. Eni has discovered over 3 billion barrels of oil in place and 850 million barrels of reserves within this block. The Ochigufu field's production contributes to the overall production from the block, which was stable above 150,000 b/d following the ramp-up.

Development Sequence

The Ochigufu field is part of a sequential development plan in Block 15/06. Previous start-ups in the block include:

  • Sangos field in 2014
  • Cinguvu field in 2015
  • Mpungi and Mpungi North fields in 2016
  • East Hub in 2017
  • Ochigufu in 2018
  • Planned start-ups included the UM8 reservoir in the East Hub and the Subsea Boosting System for the Mpungi field in 2018, and the Vandumbu field in early 2019.

Infrastructure and Wells

The West Hub project, which includes the Ochigufu field, involves a total of 31 subsea wells, with 18 producing and 13 injecting wells connected to the N’Goma FPSO. The Ochigufu field itself is part of this infrastructure, contributing to the overall production and also serving as part of the subsea boosting system for the Mpungi field.

Future Plans and Expansion

Following the start-up of the Ochigufu field, Eni planned further developments in the block, including the start-up of the Vandumbu field in early 2019 and the implementation of a Subsea Boosting System for the Mpungi field. These developments were expected to add a further 30,000 barrels of oil to the overall production from Block 15/06, pushing the total production to exceed 170,000 b/d in 2019.

The Ochigufu project is a significant milestone in Eni's operations in Angola, reflecting the company's commitment to efficient and rapid development of its discoveries in the region.
