Ravenspurn N
- Type: Rig
- field
- Latitude: 54.0637103
- Longitude: 0.9570422
Location and Geology
- The Ravenspurn North gas field is situated in the Southern North Sea, primarily within Block 43/26a, and extends into Block 42/30.
- The field is part of the Rotliegendes group, with the gas reservoir being a Lower Leman sandstone. The reservoir has variable porosity and permeability.
Development and Infrastructure
- The field was developed by Hamilton Brothers, which constructed a main manned central processing platform (CPP) and two small satellite platforms, ST-2 and ST-3. The CPP is a unique concrete gravity base structure, a three-leg structure supporting a production and accommodation topside, bridge-linked to the WT1 wellhead platform.
- Gas from the field is transported to the Cleeton Platform and then to the Easington Gas Processing Terminal.
History
- The field was discovered in October 1984.
- Field development approval was granted in 1986, and production started in 1990.
- Initially operated by Hamilton Brothers, the operatorship was transferred to BP in 1998. In 2012, Perenco acquired BP's stake and became the operator.
Production
- Peak production was achieved in 1997. As of recent data, the field has recovered approximately 98.73% of its total recoverable reserves, with production expected to continue until it reaches its economic limit in 2025.
- The field's recoverable reserves are estimated at 35.1 billion cubic meters of gas.
Current Operations
- Perenco UK operates the field and is responsible for its ongoing production. Perenco UK processes nearly 15% of the UK's national gas production and owns and operates a significant infrastructure in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS), including 45 offshore platforms, 14 subsea wells, and over 2,400 km of pipelines.
Recent Developments
- While the Ravenspurn North field itself is mature, recent activities have focused on nearby areas. For example, Perenco UK has made a new gas discovery in the Ravenspurn South field, with the C06 well expected to contribute significantly to the overall production in the area.
Ownership
- The field is currently owned by Harbour Energy and Perenco Holdings.
Contractors and Partners
- Key contractors involved in the development and maintenance of the field include Heerema Marine Contractors, Saipem, and Technip.
