The project is located in the Santa Cruz department of Bolivia, specifically focusing on the Caipipendi block, which includes the Margarita-Huacaya field. This area is one of the largest gas blocks in the world.

History and Operations

Repsol has been operating in Bolivia since 1994 through its Upstream business. In 2016, the operating agreement for the Caipipendi block was extended for an additional 15 years, until 2046. The project involves an exploration, development, and exploitation program in the areas of Boyuy and Boicobo Sur, south and north of Caipipendi, respectively.

This project aims to reduce the risk of stomach and intestinal diseases due to poor water quality.
