Location and Overview

The project is located in the Santa Cruz department of Bolivia, specifically focusing on the Caipipendi block, which includes the Margarita-Huacaya field. This area is one of the largest gas blocks in the world.

History and Operations

Repsol has been operating in Bolivia since 1994 through its Upstream business. In 2016, the operating agreement for the Caipipendi block was extended for an additional 15 years, until 2046. The project involves an exploration, development, and exploitation program in the areas of Boyuy and Boicobo Sur, south and north of Caipipendi, respectively.

Community and Social Development

Repsol is involved in various community development projects in the region. These include:

• Nutrition education and school food projects in collaboration with the UN World Food Program (WFP) to support the most vulnerable individuals.
• Socio-environmental monitoring in four municipalities and five Guaraní district councils to contribute to economic and social development.
• Constant dialogue with indigenous organizations to ensure community involvement and benefit.

Environmental Commitment

The company has conducted historical monitoring of the area, environmental impact studies (EIA), and sensitivity indexes to verify the effectiveness of mitigation measures. These actions are part of Repsol's commitment to the country's biodiversity and environmental sustainability.

Repsol has a central office in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, located at Avda. Las Ramblas 100, Edificio ITC Tower, Zona Noreste, Barrio Equipetrol. This office oversees the various projects and operations in the region.

Specific Projects

• Potable Water Project: In collaboration with the Entre Ríos Municipality Government, Repsol developed a project to improve the quality of the drinking water service for over 7,000 people in Isarzama, Cochabamba district. This project aims to reduce the risk of stomach and intestinal diseases due to poor water quality.
