Operator and Ownership

The field is operated by the Iranian Offshore Oil Company, and it is fully owned by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).

Discovery and Production

The Soroosh Oil Field was discovered in 1962. The production at the field began in 1970.

Reserves and Production

As of 2016, the Soroosh Oil Field has recoverable oil reserves of approximately 585 million barrels. The annual oil production from the field is around 32.85 million barrels per year.

Field Development

The development of the Soroosh Oil Field involved the drilling of 10 production wells and 2 injection wells. The field is situated in a water depth of about 45 meters.

Associated Projects

The Soroosh Oil Field is also part of larger projects involving natural gas processing. For instance, the Kharg NGL project, scheduled to start at the earliest in 2026, will process associated natural gas from the Soroosh field along with other offshore fields like Hendijan, Bahregansar, Nowruz Abuzar, Doroud, and Forouzan.

Historical Context and Contracts

Historically, the Soroosh and Nowrooz fields were developed through buy-back service contracts, which have been a subject of study to determine their impact on optimal production.
