Vessel Description

Finnmaid is a high-speed RoPax (Roll-on/Roll-off Passenger) ferry owned and operated by Finnlines Plc, a Finnish shipping company and subsidiary of the Italian Grimaldi Group. The vessel was constructed at the Aker Finnyards shipyard in Rauma, Finland (later renamed STX Europe) and delivered in 2006.

The vessel is one of a series of advanced Grimaldi-class ferries designed specifically for the Baltic Sea route between Helsinki, Finland and Travemünde, Germany, with intermediate calls at Gdynia, Poland. She is notable for her high service speed of approximately 25 knots, made possible by her diesel-electric propulsion system paired with ABB Azipod azimuthing propulsion units — technology that provides excellent maneuverability and fuel efficiency.

Finnmaid is capable of carrying approximately 500 passengers and offers substantial cargo capacity with approximately 4,000 lane meters of ro-ro deck space, making her an important logistics asset for freight transport across the Baltic. The vessel operates under the Finnish flag and complies with SECA (Sulphur Emission Control Area) regulations applicable to Baltic Sea operations.

She represents one of the most technically advanced ferries in the Finnlines fleet and plays a central role in the company's scheduled freight and passenger services connecting Finland, Germany, and Poland.
