Vessel Description

Wight Sun is a double-ended Ro-Pax ferry operating on the Lymington to Yarmouth crossing across the western Solent for Wightlink Ferries. She is one of three sister vessels — alongside Wight Sky and Wight Light — built by Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdansk, Poland. The vessel is purpose-designed for short-sea estuary and coastal operations, featuring a double-ended hull configuration allowing bow and stern loading simultaneously, eliminating the need to turn the vessel at either terminal. The Voith Schneider propeller system provides exceptional manoeuvrability in the confined and tidal waters of the western Solent. The vessel is capable of carrying both passengers and road vehicles and forms a critical transport link between the Hampshire mainland and the Isle of Wight.
