Vessel Description
BRUTUS is one of the world's largest trailing suction hopper dredgers (TSHD), owned and operated by Van Oord, a leading Dutch dredging and marine contractor. Built by Royal IHC in the Netherlands and delivered in 2020, BRUTUS was designed to undertake large-scale dredging and land reclamation projects globally. With a hopper capacity of 35,000 m³, she is among the most capable vessels of her type in the world fleet. The vessel operates under the Dutch flag and is deployed on major international infrastructure projects including port construction, coastal protection works, and offshore land reclamation schemes. Her diesel-electric propulsion system with azimuth thrusters provides high maneuverability suited to complex dredging operations in varying environmental conditions.
