Vessel Description

L9526 is a Rotterdam-class Landing Platform Dock (LPD) of the Royal Netherlands Navy. The vessel is designed for amphibious warfare operations, capable of transporting and deploying marines, vehicles, landing craft, and helicopters. The Rotterdam class was developed as a multi-role amphibious ship capable of supporting both combat and humanitarian operations. The vessel features a stern well dock capable of accommodating multiple landing craft utility (LCU) or smaller assault craft, a vehicle deck, troop accommodation spaces, and a flight deck capable of operating medium to heavy helicopters. As part of the Royal Netherlands Navy's amphibious capability, the vessel regularly participates in NATO exercises and has been deployed on international humanitarian relief operations. Her sistership is HNLMS Johan de Witt (L801).
