Vessel Description

The Kwintebank is a trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) owned and operated by DEME Group, one of the world's leading marine dredging and offshore contractors. Built in 2002 by the renowned Dutch dredging vessel specialist Royal IHC at Kinderdijk, the Netherlands, the vessel represents a mid-sized TSHD designed for sand extraction, capital dredging, and beach nourishment operations.

The vessel takes its name from the Kwintebank, a sandbank located off the Belgian North Sea coast, reflecting DEME's strong operational ties to Belgian and Dutch offshore extraction zones. With a hopper capacity of approximately 7,000 m³, the Kwintebank is suited for medium-scale dredging campaigns, port maintenance, and coastal protection works.

As a trailing suction hopper dredger, the vessel operates by dragging a suction pipe along the seabed while underway, drawing up sediment into its onboard hopper. Material can be discharged via bottom doors, pump-ashore systems, or rainbowing, providing operational flexibility across a variety of project types.

The Kwintebank operates primarily in the North Sea region and is a recognized vessel within DEME's diverse fleet of specialized maritime assets.
