Vessel Description

The Edgar Oldendorff is a Capesize bulk carrier operating under the Portuguese Madeira ship registry (MAR), managed and operated by Oldendorff Carriers GmbH & Co. KG, one of the world's largest bulk carrier operators headquartered in Lübeck, Germany. Built in 2017 at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co. (DSIC) in China, the vessel represents the modern generation of large bulk carriers with a deadweight tonnage exceeding 181,000 DWT.

As a Capesize vessel, she is too large to transit the Suez or Panama Canals and must navigate around the Cape of Good Hope or Cape Horn, hence the vessel class designation. She is primarily employed in the carriage of major dry bulk commodities including iron ore and coal on long-haul deep-sea routes, typically between major export terminals in Australia, Brazil, and West Africa to steel mills and power plants in East Asia.
