Vessel Description
The MUROS is a Ro-Ro (Roll-on/Roll-off) cargo vessel registered under the Portuguese flag (Madeira International Ship Register – MAR) and operated by Naviera Armas, one of Spain's principal short-sea and inter-island shipping companies. Built in 2008 by the Italian Visentini Shipyard, the vessel was purpose-designed for freight transport on Atlantic routes connecting the Spanish mainland with the Canary Islands archipelago.
As a Ro-Ro carrier, the MUROS is equipped with ramp and drive-through access to accommodate wheeled cargo, including trailers, trucks, and rolling stock. The vessel plays a critical logistical role in supplying the Canary Islands with goods transported from peninsular Spain, operating on scheduled freight routes year-round. With a gross tonnage of approximately 26,904 GT and a length of nearly 177 metres, she represents a significant unit within the Naviera Armas fleet dedicated to commercial cargo operations in the Eastern Atlantic region.
