Vessel Description

The Alvheim FPSO is a permanently moored floating production, storage and offloading unit operating on the Alvheim oil field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Originally constructed as a conventional crude oil tanker, the vessel was converted to FPSO configuration prior to deployment. The unit serves as the central processing and storage hub for the Alvheim field development, receiving production from subsea wells via flexible risers and flowlines connected through its internal turret mooring system.

The FPSO processes crude oil and associated gas, with stabilized crude stored in its cargo tanks before offloading to shuttle tankers via a stern-mounted offloading system. The Alvheim field, operated by Aker BP ASA, came onstream in 2008 and the FPSO has been the cornerstone of production from the field, which also includes the Volund and Vilje satellite fields tied back to the unit. The vessel operates under the Norwegian flag and is subject to oversight by the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA). Storage capacity and processing facilities make it one of the significant FPSO assets on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
