Vessel Description
The Ramform Valiant is a purpose-built marine seismic survey vessel operated by Petroleum Geo-Services (PGS), one of the world's leading geophysical companies. The vessel is characterized by its distinctive Ramform hull design — a wide, triangular-shaped hull patented by PGS — which provides exceptional stability in harsh sea conditions and allows for the simultaneous towing of a large number of seismic streamers and sources.
The vessel is equipped to conduct full 3D and 4D seismic acquisition surveys for the oil and gas exploration industry. Its broad stern deck accommodates extensive seismic equipment arrays, including multiple streamer reels, source arrays, and associated handling systems. The Ramform design significantly reduces vessel motion, improving data quality during acquisition operations.
With diesel-electric propulsion and a DP2 dynamic positioning system, the Ramform Valiant maintains precise positioning during seismic operations without the need for anchoring. The vessel carries a complement of specialized seismic crew in addition to its marine crew and is designed for extended offshore campaigns in both benign and challenging metocean environments worldwide.
