Vessel Description
The vessel is a double-ended passenger ferry that has operated continuously in Toronto Harbour since her launch in 1939, making her one of the oldest continuously operating ferries in Canada. She was named after Samuel McBride, a former Mayor of Toronto. The vessel is capable of carrying several hundred passengers and operates as part of the Toronto Islands Ferry fleet, providing essential public transit between the Toronto waterfront and the Toronto Islands communities and park facilities. Her double-ended design allows for efficient turnaround operations at ferry terminals without the need to turn the vessel around between crossings. She has undergone various refits and mechanical upgrades over her decades of service while retaining her classic profile.
