Vessel Description
The Christian Reinauer is a Z-drive articulated tug built in 2003 by Washburn & Doughty Associates in East Boothbay, Maine, and operated by Reinauer Transportation Companies, one of the prominent petroleum and cargo towing operators based in New York Harbor. As a Z-drive tug, the vessel benefits from enhanced maneuverability, making it well suited for harbor assist operations as well as coastal and inland towing duties. The vessel operates primarily within New York Harbor and along the northeastern Atlantic seaboard, supporting the movement of petroleum barges and other cargo typical of Reinauer Transportation's fleet operations. The steel-hulled vessel reflects the American Tug Escort design standards common to articulated tug and barge units operating in the region during the early 2000s.
