Vessel Description

MSC GULSUN is one of the world's largest container ships by TEU capacity, and upon her delivery in July 2019 held the title of the largest container ship in the world, surpassing the previous record holders. She is part of MSC's fleet expansion program deploying ultra-large container vessels (ULCVs) on the Asia–Europe trade lane.

Built at Samsung Heavy Industries in Geoje, South Korea, she features an 11-cylinder MAN B&W main engine, making her one of the most powerful marine diesel installations afloat at the time of construction. Her 23,756 TEU capacity reflects the ongoing trend in containerised shipping toward economies of scale.

The vessel operates under the Panama flag and is commercially managed by the Mediterranean Shipping Company, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, which is one of the world's largest container shipping lines by fleet capacity.
