Vessel Description

HMAS Adelaide (FFH 01) is the lead ship of the Hobart-class air warfare destroyers operated by the Royal Australian Navy. The vessel is a highly capable multi-mission warship designed primarily for area air defence, anti-submarine warfare and anti-surface warfare operations. Equipped with the Aegis Combat System and the AN/SPY-1D(V) phased array radar, she represents the most technologically advanced surface combatant in Australian naval history. The ship is capable of firing the Standard Missile family of weapons and is equipped with the Mark 41 Vertical Launch System. Adelaide supports joint and coalition operations and is regularly deployed for national and international maritime security taskings, exercising interoperability with allied navies including the United States Navy and other Five Eyes partners.
