Vessel Description
The FPSO FORTE is a converted very large crude carrier (VLCC) built in 1976 by Hitachi Zosen in Japan. Originally constructed as a conventional crude oil tanker, the vessel was subsequently converted into a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit. As an FPSO, the vessel is designed to receive hydrocarbons produced from subsea wells, process the oil and gas onboard, store the processed crude oil, and periodically offload to shuttle tankers. The unit operated under the management of BW Offshore, one of the leading FPSO operators globally. With a deadweight tonnage exceeding 130,000 DWT, the vessel has substantial storage capacity suitable for deepwater and offshore field developments. The Marshall Islands flag registration reflects the common practice among offshore floating units of registering under open registry flag states.
