Vessel Description

Svitzer Idku is an ASD (Azimuth Stern Drive) harbor and terminal tug operated by Svitzer Egypt, stationed permanently at the Idku LNG export terminal on Egypt's Mediterranean coast, near Alexandria. The vessel provides dedicated towage and escort services for LNG carriers and other large vessels calling at the Idku LNG terminal, which is operated by Egyptian LNG, a facility utilized for the liquefaction and export of natural gas. As an ASD tug, the vessel is equipped with twin azimuthing thrusters providing full 360-degree maneuverability, making it well suited for precision ship-handling operations in the confined waters of the terminal. The vessel operates under the broader Svitzer fleet organization, which falls within the A.P. Møller-Mærsk Group's towage division, providing contractual towage services to the Idku terminal on a long-term basis.
