Rudong H6

  • Type: Wind Farm
  • Latitude: 32.6210000
  • Longitude: 121.8080000

Location and Site Details

The Rudong H6 offshore wind farm is located in the Huangshayang sea area, to the east of Rudong County, near Nantong city, in the Jiangsu province of China. Specifically, it is situated 50 kilometers away from the shore.

Project Details

  • Developer: The project is developed by China Three Gorges New Energy, a subsidiary of China Three Gorges Corporation.
  • Capacity: The Rudong H6 wind farm has an installed capacity of 400 MW.
  • Turbines: The wind farm comprises 100 wind turbine units, each with a 4 MW nameplate capacity. The turbines are of the model SWT-4.0-146, supplied by Shanghai Electric Wind Power Equipment.
  • Rotor Diameter: The wind turbines have a rotor diameter of 146 meters.

Construction and Foundations

  • Construction Start: The construction works on the project began in February 2020.
  • Commercial Operation: The wind farm entered into commercial operation in November 2021.
  • Foundations: The wind turbines are installed on monopile foundations at water depths ranging from 9 meters to 20 meters. The installation was facilitated using a 600t jack-up wind power installation platform and 1,600t floating specialized marine equipment.

Electrical Infrastructure

  • Power Evacuation: The electricity generated is evacuated to the power grid through a 35kV submarine cable, a 400kV flexible DC transmission submarine cable, and two 220kV AC submarine cables.
  • Booster Stations: The project includes the construction of a 220kV sea booster station, as well as offshore and onshore converter stations.

Environmental Impact

  • Annual Electricity Generation: The Rudong H6 wind farm, along with the H10 wind farm, is expected to generate up to 2.4 billion kWh of electricity annually, which can power approximately 990,000 households.
  • CO2 Emissions Offset: The project will offset up to 1.83 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by avoiding approximately 740,000 tonnes of coal consumption per year.

Contractors Involved

  • Turbine Supplier: Shanghai Electric Wind Power Equipment.
  • Foundation and Installation: Zhongtian Technology Group Offshore Engineering Company and Nantong Ocean Water Conservancy Engineering Company were involved in the foundation and installation works.
  • Design and Engineering: East China Survey and Design Institute.
  • Other Contractors: Chongqing Waterway Engineering Bureau, Jiangsu Power Construction No 3 Company, and Zhenhua Heavy Industry were also engaged in various aspects of the project.

Additional Information

  • Site Dimensions: The H6 wind farm site measures 13.6 kilometers in the east-west direction and 8.2 kilometers in the north-south direction, covering an area of approximately 66 square kilometers.
