Yangjiang Nanpeng Island

  • Type: Wind Farm
  • Latitude: 21.4720000
  • Longitude: 112.2430000

Location

The wind farm is situated in the South China Sea, specifically at the coordinates 21° 28' 11.9" N latitude and 112° 14' 23.9" E longitude.

Developer and Owner

The project is developed and owned by CGN New Energy Holdings Co Ltd, a subsidiary of CGN Energy International Holdings Co Ltd. CGN New Energy is an independent power producer that generates electricity from various energy sources, including wind, solar, hydro, and more.

Capacity and Turbines

The wind farm has a total nominal power capacity of 401.5 MW. It consists of 73 units of Guangdong Ming Yang Wind Power Group's MYSE5.5-155 turbines, each with a nameplate capacity of 5.5 MW. The turbines have a rotor diameter of 155 meters.

Foundations

The wind turbines are installed on fixed foundations. Specifically, the turbines in both Phase I and Phase II of the project use monopile foundations.

Construction and Operation

The construction of the wind farm commenced in 2018 and it entered into commercial operation in November 2019. The project was developed in multiple phases.

Environmental Impact

The project generates approximately 1,015,000 MWh of electricity annually, which helps to offset about 828,800 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.

Tower Specifications

The wind turbines have tower heights of 105 meters.

Contractors Involved

  • Turbine Supplier: China Ming Yang Wind Power Group provided the MYSE5.5-155 turbines.
  • Other Contractors: While specific details on other contractors for this particular project are limited, it is known that companies like Sinohydro Engineering Bureau 4 have been involved in similar projects for providing towers and other infrastructure.

Operational Status

The wind farm is currently active and operational, contributing significantly to China's offshore wind power generation capacity.

This project is part of China's robust expansion in offshore wind energy, with mainland China being the largest offshore wind power producer in the Asia-Pacific region.
