Vessel Description
The Normand Samson is a large offshore construction support vessel (CSV) built to the Rolls-Royce UT 745 CD design and delivered in 2009 by Kleven Verft AS in Norway. The vessel is operated by Solstad Offshore ASA, one of Norway's leading offshore vessel operators.
Designed for demanding subsea construction and intervention work, the vessel features a large open deck area, a helideck, crane capacity suited for subsea lift operations, and is equipped with a DP-2 dynamic positioning system, enabling precise station-keeping in challenging sea conditions without anchoring.
The Normand Samson is capable of supporting a wide range of offshore operations including pipe laying support, ROV operations, subsea construction, inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR), and offshore heavy lifting. Its diesel-electric propulsion system ensures fuel efficiency and operational redundancy appropriate for extended offshore campaigns.
The vessel operates primarily on the Norwegian and UK Continental Shelves but has demonstrated multi-regional deployability across West Africa and other deep-water basins.
Data sourced from IMO GISIS, Equasis, Solstad Offshore ASA fleet records, and AIS registries. Users should verify operational details against current owner/operator documentation.
