Vessel Description

The Amadea is a 106-meter luxury superyacht originally constructed in 1986 by the renowned German shipyard Lürssen Werft, recognized as one of the world's premier builders of large custom yachts and naval vessels. The vessel represents a significant example of high-end superyacht engineering from the mid-1980s era and has undergone substantial refits and interior refurbishments over its operational life to maintain contemporary luxury standards.

The yacht features five decks, accommodating substantial guest and crew quarters befitting a vessel of its class. It is equipped with multiple leisure and hospitality amenities typical of superyachts at this scale, including expansive deck spaces, tender storage, and high-specification interior appointments.

The Amadea gained international prominence in early 2022 following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, when it became the subject of international law enforcement attention as part of broader Western sanctions targeting assets allegedly linked to Russian oligarchs. The vessel was intercepted and seized by Fijian authorities in coordination with U.S. federal law enforcement (the U.S. Department of Justice) in April 2022, while in Fijian waters. It was subsequently delivered to U.S. custody and escorted to San Diego, California, representing one of the most significant yacht seizures in the context of Russia-related sanctions enforcement.
