Vessel Description

Petrojarl Rosebank is a purpose-built Floating Production, Storage and Offloading unit constructed by Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea and delivered in 2014. The vessel was specifically designed and engineered for the Rosebank deepwater oil and gas development project located west of Shetland, operated under Chevron as the project's original lead developer.

The FPSO is equipped for processing, storage, and offloading of hydrocarbons in deepwater, harsh weather North Atlantic conditions. The vessel features a disconnectable turret mooring system, enabling the unit to detach from its mooring in extreme weather events if necessary, providing an additional layer of operational safety in the demanding environmental conditions typical of the west of Shetland region.

Teekay Offshore was contracted to provide the FPSO under a long-term charter arrangement for the Rosebank field development. The Rosebank project has experienced extended periods of development pause due to economic and regulatory factors, meaning the vessel has been in a state of readiness and management by Teekay during these periods. The project regained momentum following the UK Government's approval of the Rosebank field development in 2023, with Equinor and Ithaca Energy holding interests in the field.
