Vessel Description

ARA Puerto Argentino is a full-rigged, three-masted sail training ship operated by the Argentine Navy, serving as the primary sea training platform for naval cadets of the Escuela Naval Militar (Argentine Naval Military School). The vessel plays a central role in Argentine naval tradition and the professional formation of future naval officers.

Built in Bilbao, Spain, in 1961, the ship has undertaken numerous circumnavigations and international voyages, serving as a floating ambassador for Argentina. She participates regularly in international tall ship regattas and naval review events alongside other square-rigged training vessels from navies around the world.

The ship is a sister vessel in concept and mission to other Latin American naval tall ships, and maintains a profile consistent with postwar-era full-rigged training vessels. Her three-mast square-rig configuration, steel hull, and extensive sail plan reflect classic tall ship design principles adapted for naval cadet training purposes.
